15 Ngurah Rai Airport Flights Affected By Extreme Weather In 3 Days
DENPASAR - General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Ahmad Syaugi Shahab said that since heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit Bali as many as 15 flights have been affected.
"Regarding the extreme weather that has occurred on the island of Bali in recent days, there have been a total of 15 flights affected by weather conditions at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport between February 10-12 and 2025," he said.
Syaugi conveyed that the most pronounced effect of this extreme weather took place on Monday (10/2) with 11 affected flights.
As a result of heavy rains and strong winds, eight domestic flights experienced flight delays, namely the Nam Air plane on the Denpasar-Tambolaka route; Wings Air on the Denpasar-Sumbawa route, Denpasar-Bima, Denpasar-Lombok; Super Air Jet on the Denpasar-Jakarta route; and Lion Air on the Denpasar-Kupang route, Denpasar-Surabaya, and Denpasar-Kuala Namu routes.
Not only delays, on that day two international airlines, namely Indigo for Bengaluru-Denpasar and Air Asia, for the Hong Kong-Denpasar route to go around or cancel landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.
Syaugi said another incident was the cancellation of flights from Wings Air on the Denpasar-Tambolaka route.
The next day, extreme weather caused four flights to be affected, with a record of one delay, two diverts or diversions to another airport, and one case canceled landing like the previous incident.
"The flight that experienced delays was Wings Air on the Denpasar-Lombok route, while the divergent flight was Lion Air, the Semarang route, which was supposed to land in Denpasar, was diverted to Surabaya, and one charter flight on the Bundi-Denpasar route was diverted to land in Lombok, for flights that experienced going around is Air Asia with the Jakarta (CGK)-Denpasar route," Syaugi said as quoted by ANTARA.
Meanwhile, for today, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has not summarized the ongoing impact of extreme weather.

Due to this bad weather condition, Syaugi asked prospective passengers to actively coordinate with the airline to be used and arrive earlier than the scheduled departure.
"We have coordinated with all airlines to ensure flight operations run safely and smoothly and passengers affected by extreme weather can be handled properly, we urge service users to arrive early and coordinate with airlines to find out updates on their flight schedules related to extreme weather that hit Bali Island," said Syaugi.
