Minister Of Agriculture: The Price Of Grain During The Harvest Must Not Drop From The HPP Of IDR 6,500

JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the price of unhulled rice during the 2025 harvest period should not be down from the HPP decision (the price for the purchase of the government) of Rp. 6,500 per kilogram.

"Remember, we absolutely have to be self-sufficient. Therefore, we must also maintain production. Do not let it go down, let alone harm farmers. I also want a storage warehouse to be prepared immediately because the President has prepared a budget of Rp. 16.6 trillion, God willing, it can be disbursed in the near future," Amran said at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday.

He said President Prabowo as the supreme commander of the state had conveyed the government's obligation to buy farmers' unhulled rice amounting to Rp6,500. He did not want that large price to drop even at Rp5,500 per kilogram.

On the same occasion, President Director of Perum Bulog Major General TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya said that his party was ready to carry out 3 million tons of grain absorption during the January, March and April harvest.

"With the existing limitations, we will optimize all existing resources. And we really hope that the support system from the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), especially strong synergies, will be the key in maintaining national food security," said Novi Helmy Prasetya.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan) Sudaryono, who is also the Bulog Supervisory Board, emphasized that the purchase price of unhulled rice should not go down or must be in accordance with the joint HPP decision, which is Rp. 6,500 per kilogram.

"As stated by the Minister of Agriculture, the price of unhulled rice should not decrease because it will affect the production and exchange rate of farmers," said Sudaryono.

For information, the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi stated that the updating of the government's purchase price policy (HPP) for harvest dry unhulled rice (GKP) was carried out to improve the welfare of farmers.

The HPP policy update is expected to be able to improve farmers' welfare and encourage farmers' enthusiasm to increase production while strengthening government rice reserves.

He said that the government's spirit in realizing food self-sufficiency was carried out by ensuring that food producers were able to obtain a good price level for their productivity results.
