Budget Blocked, IKN Development Confirmed To Continue

SAMARINDA - Director of Environment and Disaster of the IKN Authority, Onesimus Patiung in Samarinda, Saturday confirmed that budget cuts will not hinder the development of IKN.

He also said that the construction of the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) continues according to plan, although the budget from the central government for the new nation's capital is temporarily blocked.

"We are still running. Our operational budget remains," said Onesimus, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, February 8.

He explained that the government is making budget efficiency to achieve priority targets. However, this does not mean that IKN development will stop.

"Work is still running with minimal budget," he said.

Regarding the impact of IKN development on the environment, he ensured that the entire AMDAL process went well and continued to be monitored. He also emphasized that there are no developments in IKN that are not through AMDAL.

"All developments in IKN must go through AMDAL. Otherwise, it means that activities are illegal," he said.

Onesimus added that the President's commitment to the second phase of the budget of IDR 48 trillion for IKN development for five years is still valid.

He also ensured that the construction of three main elements of IKN, namely executive, judicial, and legislative, continued.

"The construction of the Presidential Palace and the presidential office is already underway. Now, what about the DPR, MPR, Supreme Court, and others. This must be completed all," he said.

He also explained that the APBN budget was only 20 percent of the total IKN development needs. The rest, 80 percent come from investment. Onesimus mentioned several investors who are already involved in IKN development, such as Hermina, Mayapada, Swiss Hotel, and Kubika.

"Investment continues. This is not just a matter of the state budget," he said.

Onesimus hopes that more and more investors are interested in investing in IKN, so development can run faster. He also mentioned that Australia will build international schools in IKN.

"The big embassy and world financial institutions will also come to IKN at the Nusantara International Partnership event in the near future. Hopefully they will be interested in investing," he hoped.

Onesimus ensured that IKN development would continue to run according to plan, with the support of the government, investors, and the community. He also emphasized his commitment to protecting the environment in IKN.

"We will continue to work to realize IKN as a modern and sustainable capital," he concluded.

Recently, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Bahlil Lahadalia confirmed that the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia will move to the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) in 2028, although currently there is an issue that the IKN development budget is blocked.

He said that this was still President Prabowo Subianto's target. Of course, he said, the stages of the IKN development completion process are still ongoing.

"Well, what is the strategy for completion like? That's at the Ministry of Public Works," said Bahlil after chairing the Golkar Party's 2025 National Working Meeting at the Golkar Party DPP Office, Jakarta, Saturday.
