PP Aisyiyah: Women's Sunat Is More Harmful
JAKARTA - The Central Executive of Aisyiyah views that women's circumcision has more harm than benefit so that it is not recommended.
"The sunat perempuan is an act that is detrimental to women, even this has been recognized by the international community. But unfortunately this practice still occurs a lot in Indonesia," said PP Aisyiyah General Secretary Tri Hastuti Nur Rochimah when contacted from Jakarta, Antara, Friday, February 7.
This affirmation was conveyed by Tri Hastuti in connection with the commemoration of the Day without Tolerance of Women's Hugs and Genital Cuts (P2GP) on Thursday.
Tri said that women's circumcision in Indonesia occurred due to cultural factors and the many erroneous religious understandings that were trusted by the community. Therefore, Aisyiyah made various efforts to educate the public to stop the practice of women's circumcision.
One of them is by spreading Islamic views that do not advocate women's circumcision practices among religious leaders and community leaders.
"Religious figures and community leaders are one of the keys to stopping this practice, because they are very much heard by their opinions among the public," said Tri.
In addition, Aisyiyah is also working with the Ministry of Health to disseminate information to Aisyiyah cadres in several provinces regarding the issue of this woman's circumcision.
He hopes that this collaboration will further strengthen the role of cadres in conducting education in the community.
PP Aisyiyah Chair for the Tabligh Council and Siti Aisyah's Study said that Muhammadiyah had conveyed the Tarjih Fatwa on women's endings contained in the book Tanya Jawab Agama Volume 2.
"That the end for this woman is weak, there are no strong arguments, so they are returned to positive and negative," he said.
Considering the negative impacts, it is not possible to advocate endings for women, let alone requiring them. This decision, called Aisyah, has considered various aspects, both health, socio-cultural, and spinach.
"Given that the argument for implementing the end for women is not very clear and with very clear harm. So that the fatwa of the stipulation of women is not recommended or ghairu masyru," he said.
Aisyah then explained some weak arguments that are often associated with carrying out the practice of women's circumcision.
Likewise in a hadith from Ummu Athiyah that a woman will end up in Medina. So the Prophet Saw said: Don't overdo it, because it is more delicious (when having sex) and more loved by your husband. (Hr. Abu Dawud and al-Baihaqi).

"This hadith is considered weak because there is a student whose origin (majhul) is unknown, namely Muhammad ibn Hasan," said Aisyah.
