Maut Truck Driver At Ciawi Toll Gate Experiences Brain Injury

JAKARTA - Director of the Ciawi Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Dr. Fusia Meidiawaty said Bendi Wijaya, the driver of the deadly truck of the accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, Katulampa Village, Bogor City, West Java, suffered a brain injury.

"So at this time the driver has a moderate head injury, in the term medicine there is a slight bleeding in the brain," said Fusia as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 6.

In addition to suffering a brain injury, Bendi, who is a resident of Cicurug District, Sukabumi Regency, also suffered injuries to the eye so he had to receive treatment from an eye specialist and neuroscientist.

"If we look at the condition, we can't communicate yet, only when compared to yesterday's condition, it's a little better, we can start to open our eyes if yesterday really couldn't open our eyes," said Dr. Fusia.

This deadly truck driver is one of 11 survivors of an accident at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate.

Of the 11 survivors, five of them are still undergoing treatment at Ciawi Hospital, Bogor Regency, while the other six victims have been sent home after receiving treatment.

This successive accident also killed eight people who were riding six vehicles. A total of six bodies have been returned from Ciawi Hospital on Wednesday (5/2) night after being identified.

Currently, there are two victims of the deadly accident who have not been identified. These two bodies were not recognized and their identity cards were not found when officers conducted an inspection at the scene.

"Two victims are still waiting for DNA results. There are already (the family reporting), that's why there is a cross-examination of family DNA and DNA of the corpse," explained Dr. Fusia.

Previously, the Head of Bogor City Police, Kombes Eko Prasetyo, explained that the accident on the Bogor Jakarta Toll Road, precisely at the Ciawi 2 Toll Gate, occurred on Tuesday at around 23.30 WIB.

The fatal accident that destroyed the toll gate building also involved six vehicles, three of which were damaged by fire and three others damaged.

At that time the truck with a gallon load drove from Ciawi to Jakarta, then experienced a failed brake right at the toll gate.

"It is suspected that the vehicle experienced a failed brake function (brake failure) and crashed into a series of vehicles that were carrying out transactions (e-tol payments) of three vehicles were destroyed, three other vehicles were damaged," said Kombes Eko.
