Ministry Of Transportation Reveals Chronology Of Deadly Galon Truck Accident That Killed 8 People At Ciawi Toll Gate

JAKARTA - A fatal accident occurred at the Ciawi Toll Gate, Bogor Regency, West Java on Tuesday, February 4 at around 23.30 WIB, involving one gallon truck and six other vehicles. As a result of this incident, eight people died.

Plt. Director General of Land Transportation, Ahmad Yani revealed the chronology of the deadly accident. He said the accident occurred after a truck carrying gallons drove from Ciawi to Jakarta, then suspected of having failed brake function right at the toll gate.

"So it hit a series of vehicles that were making e-tol payment transactions. It was reported that three vehicles were destroyed and three other vehicles were damaged," he said in an official statement, Wednesday, February 5.

Ahmad Yani said that from this accident, data on victims was obtained, namely eight people died and dozens were injured.

"The victim has been evacuated and taken to the Ciawi Regional General Hospital which is close to the scene," he said.

Furthermore, Ahmad Yani also said that his party would investigate the cause of the accident at the Ciawi Toll Gate. He said the team from the Ministry of Transportation had also been dispatched to the scene to collect the necessary evidence and information.

"The Ministry of Transportation continues to coordinate with the police and other relevant agencies to deal with this accident," he said.

Regarding this accident, Ahmad Yani also advised all toll road users to ensure that the condition of the vehicle was in good condition before it was used.

"Toll road users to always be careful and obey existing traffic signs and to drivers to ensure the condition of the vehicle is in good condition before use," said Ahmad Yani.
