Great Fire Hits Springbed Baku Material Warehouse In Bekasi

A great fire hit a warehouse for making springbeds at the Tambun Bizhub Warehouse Complex, South Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday, February 2 evening.

Bekasi Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) officer, Adhi Nugroho, said his party deployed 10 fire engines from the Bekasi Regency Disdamkarmat and two additional units from Bekasi City to extinguish the intense fire.

According to Adhi, the blackout process was hampered because the electricity at the scene had not been cut off, so officers had to wait for action from PLN before it could operate optimally.

"Ten minutes after we arrived at the location, we were still constrained by the flow of electricity so we had to coordinate first with PLN. In fact, some of our officers were electrocuted while trying to extinguish the fire," said Adhi.

In addition, the fire team also experienced difficulties in obtaining water sources because there were no hydrants available in the warehousing area.

Until now, there have been no reports of casualties as a result of this incident, but four trucks parked in the warehouse area were also burned.

One of the local residents, Yunus (37), said the fire was first discovered at around 19:00 WIB. He said the fire quickly grew after sparks emerged from the alleged electrical short circuit.

"Initially he said it was from a short circuit, sparks continued to appear, and the fire was immediately big," said Yunus.

Currently, firefighters are still struggling at the site to completely extinguish the fire to prevent fires from spreading to other areas.
