Dutch Projectile Bomb Found On Kajhu Beach, Aceh Besar

JAKARTA - Residents of Kajhu, Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar District, recently found an object suspected of being a projectile type bomb on the local Kuala Giging coast.

The Head of the Baitussalam Police, Iptu Endang Sulastri, confirmed the findings and said that the object was thought to be a relic of the Dutch colonial era. "The object found measuring 25 cm long, 15 cm in diameter, and weighing about 30 kilograms is thought to be a projectile from the Dutch era," he said when contacted in Banda Aceh, Sunday.

According to Endang, the projectile was first discovered by a resident who was looking for metal using a metal detection device. The resident found a strange object on the shoreline and then informed other residents of the findings. They then dug deeper with a crowbar and found that the object was a bomb.

After that, local residents reported this discovery to the Kajhu gampong device, which then forwarded the information to the Baitussalam Police. The police immediately installed a police line around the location of the findings.

The Jibom Gegana Brimob Team of the Aceh Police immediately went to the location to carry out a disposal process for the projectile. The evacuation process lasted for about 1.5 hours, considering that the projectile had to be moved away from residential areas to avoid potential danger. "Alhamdulillah, the process went smoothly without any problems," said Endang.

The police chief also appealed to the public to report immediately if they found suspicious objects, especially those that could potentially be dangerous. "If you find a suspicious object, immediately report it to the Baitussalam Police or through WA Curhat Kapolresta Banda Aceh at 082316851998," he added.
