East Aceh Police Arrest 2 Residents Bringing Rohingya Immigrants Away, Paid IDR 150 Thousand
The joint team from the East Aceh Police arrested two residents because they wanted to take away three Rohingya immigrants from a temporary shelter in Sineubok Rawang Village, East Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Aceh Police, Iptu Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat, said the two residents were AR (18) and ZA (44). Both are residents of East Pereulak, East Aceh
"They were arrested while trying to take away three Rohingya immigrants from a temporary shelter in Sineubok Rawang Village, East Peureulak District, on Sunday (19/1) night," said Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 23.
The disclosure of residents taking the Rohingya immigrants away stems from reports from residents to the East Peureluak Police. Residents reported that three Rohingya immigrants got into the passenger car and went to the east or Langsa City
"From this information, the East Peureulak Police Chief coordinated with us. Then, we chased the passenger's car. After the pursuit, the passenger's car was finally stopped in the jurisdiction of the Langsa Police," he said.
The driver of the passenger car and the three Rohingya immigrants were taken to the East Aceh Police for further investigation and investigation.
To the officers, the car driver said that the three Rohingya immigrants were raised by ZA on Jalan Medan-Banda Aceh, Seuneubok Punti Village, East Peureulak District. Then, officers arrested ZA in the East Pereulak area.

"From ZA's statement, he was assisted by AR. Armed with ZA's information, the team arrested AR. Currently, we are still investigating other parties involved in escaping Rohingya immigrants from the shelter location," said Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat.
Based on the results of the interim examination, ZA admitted that he received a wage of Rp. 150,000 from the person who ordered it. Meanwhile, AR, who brought Rohingya ethnic immigrants to ZA's house, asked for a wage of Rp. 300 thousand, but he had not received the wage.
"ZA and AR are suspected of violating Article 328 of the Criminal Code and or Article 10 in conjunction with Article 2 of Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of trafficking in persons with a minimum threat of three years in prison," said Adi Wahyu Nurhidayat.
