Disclosure Of The Case Of Deepfake Catut Prabowo-Gibran: Keep The Government's Authority
The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police stated that the disclosure of a deepfake fraud case that included the President and Vice President, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is a form of maintaining the current government's dignity.
Director of Cyber Crime at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji said the spread of videos using artificial artificial intelligence or AI with the intention of seeking personal benefits could have an impact on tarnishing the dignity of the president and his staff.
"The disclosure of this case is to maintain the dignity of the authority of the government, Mr. President Prabowo Subianto and his kabitnet so as not to cause disruption from the community," Himawan told reporters, Thursday, January 23.
Moreover, the massive dissemination of information that is inaccurate and misleading on social media can lead to framing and negative opinions in the community. Although, this information is not true.
"We often call it Firehose of Falsehood, which is to spread false information over and over again, so if this continues, it will frame and manipulate public negative opinions against the government of President Prabowo Sibianto and his cabinet," he said.
In addition, Himawan also stated that the disclosure of the case also aims to prevent casualties. So far, from the identification results, 11 people have been deceived by the deepfake fraud syndicate.
"But we don't see how many victims and how many victims are. The most important thing is that we are the Police, the Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri, provide protection to the community so that this does not continue," said Himawan.

The perpetrators changed or edited Prabowo and Gibran's photos and videos into video recordings as if the current government was offering assistance to people who were in trouble.
However, to get this assistance, the public or victims must first deposit some money.
