Profile Of Djan Faridz: From Entrepreneurs, Politicians, To Being Searched By The KPK

YOGYAKARTA Profile of Djan Faridz became a conversation after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched his house. The KPK search was carried out because Djan Faridz was strongly suspected of being related to the Harun Masiku case, which is currently still at large. Apart from the case, who is Djan Faridz actually?

Djan Faridz was born on August 5, 1950. He is an alumni of Tarumanegara University in 1973 of the Faculty of Architecture. Currently, Djan Faridz is known as a politician from the United Development Party (PPP). But before becoming a politician, Djan was known as an entrepreneur.

Initially, Djan had a business in the welding sector. He also had time to run a business in the property sector, one of which was to become a contractor for special housing for civil servants and the TNI.

Then in 1996, Djan Faridz founded a company called PT Dizamatra Powerindo. The company is known to be quite successful, even working with Pertamina. This company also delivers Djan in the business sector.

Not only in the business world, but Djan Faridz is also interested in the organizational world. For example, he is a member of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI). The organization was attended by young Indonesian entrepreneurs.

Apart from HIPMI, Djan Faridz also joined the Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) after the New Order. He was active as a member of NU in 2004. In fact, he occupied an important position, namely as treasurer to become the head of the NU Jakarta Branch until 2014.

Djan Faridz became known on the political stage of the country after he succeeded in becoming the Regional Representative Council (DPD) representing Jakarta in 2009. Then in 2011, Djan was actually appointed as Minister of Public Housing in the era of the leadership of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).

Then in the era of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi, Djan was appointed as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) who was sworn in in in 2023.

At PPP, the name Djan Faridz is also quite influential. Currently occupying the seat of the Honorary Council for the 2020-2025 period. Previously, Djan had served as General Chair. However, he chose to resign in 2018.

In 2014, Djan also had an important role related to the dualism of the PPP leadership. He is the initiator of the Jakarta Congress. The idea was taken not long after PPP held the Congress in Surabaya which appointed Muhammad Romahurmuziy as General Chair.

Most recently, the KPK conducted a search at Djan's house, which is located at Jalan Borobudur, Central Jakarta. The search, which was carried out on Wednesday night, January 22, 2025, was related to the KPK's efforts to investigate a case involving Harun Masiku in the alleged bribery case for interim replacement management (PAW).
