Trump Inaugurated, Finnish President: We Must Prepare For A Time Of Uncertainty

JAKARTA - Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the world was moving towards a new era full of uncertainty after Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States.

"We have to prepare for a period of uncertainty, where the rules, norms and institutions we have relied on will be lost," Stubb said in an interview with TV station Yle.

According to him, the traditional regulatory-based international system supported by global institutions will become more transactional and deal-oriented.

"We have to think about how to convince the United States that their values and interests could be an excuse to return to international cooperation," Stubb said.

After being sworn in as the 47th US President on January 20, Trump immediately signed executive orders that sparked controversy at home and abroad.

In addition to revoking the right to automatic US citizenship for those born in the country, Trump also changed the name Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America.

He also put drug cartels on the list of terrorist organizations, did not recognize gender other than men and women, withdrew the US from the World Health Organization (WHO) membership and the Paris climate agreement, as well as a number of other policies.
