UNRWA Says Gaza Strip Reconstruction Exceeds Its Ability Due To Severe Damage

JAKARTA - Media advisers and spokeswoman for the United Nations Aid and Work Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Adnan Abu Hasna on Tuesday confirmed that the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip, Palestine exceeded the agency's capabilities due to the severe damage and destruction that befell all aspects of life on the line.

He explained that the agency could contribute to rehabilitating infrastructure in camps and returning employees to work in them, as well as operating their wells.

"The agency's work has doubled over the past two days after the entry of more than a thousand aid trucks, as thousands of employees work with maximum capacity in the food supply distribution process," Abu Hasna said, quoted from WAFA January 22.

Abu Hasna noted that talking about service infrastructure in the Gaza Strip requires focusing on fundamental matters, such as enabling municipality to restart water and its channels as well as repairing wells, power companies that require cables, generators and high-voltage channels.

While the search for missing persons that exceed thousands of bodies under the rubble requires planning and work of experienced special teams, especially in terms of searching for bullets that have not exploded, the number of which according to UN estimates reaches tens of thousands.
