Police Investigate Man Claiming To Be A Member Of Kostrad Acungkan Pistol While Involved In A Quarrel In Kemang

JAKARTA - A man claiming to be a member of the Army Strategic Reserve Command or Kostrad brandished an object resembling a firearm (senpi) when he was involved in an argument in the Kemang area, Jakarta.

This is known in a video that went viral on social media (medsos). In the video, the Kostrad member is surrounded by residents and then brandishes an object suspected of being a gun directed upwards.

"Who is this carrying a gun?" asked someone in the viral video recording.

"Whoo lu journalist isn't it?" said the man who was carrying an object suspected of being a gun to the video recorder.

The incident occurred in the Kemang area, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, Friday, January 17 evening.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mampang Prapatan Police, AKP Iwan Ridwanulah, said that his party was still investigating the man who brandished the gun. He confirmed that he would look for the perpetrator who brandished the object resembling the gun.

"Yes, still, we are concerned that there is a senpi, so we will investigate," said Iwan when confirmed, Sunday, January 19.

Based on the testimony of witnesses, Iwan explained that the chronology started with a person who was suspected of pointing an object resembling a gun was blocked because a number of people left the cafe in Kemang, South Jakarta.

"Keep getting angry at the parking attendant, right. Yes, it's like allegedly a gun, we haven't confirmed whether it's a gun or not," he said.

He also said the man who referred to the object resembling a firearm was in a drunken state. So he did these actions.

"He's drunk," he said

On the other hand, the question of the alleged perpetrator's confession that Kostrad members, said Iwan, is still under investigation.

"That's just a guess, we are still investigating. He said so," he said

Now his party is examining CCTV and a number of witnesses. The goal is to reveal the identity of the man.

"We are still investigating, we are asking for information from other witnesses who are there, continue from CCTV, from the vehicle used. We are still analyzing it," he said.
