Tanjung Uban PLP Base Finds Unmanned Ship In Bintan

JAKARTA - Tanjung Uban Marine and Coast Guard Base (PLP), Bintan Regency, found an unmanned ship in the waters of Sebong Bay, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).

Head of Tanjung Uban PLP Base, Sugeng Riyono, said that initially there were reports from local residents regarding the discovery of a ship in the waters of Bakau Bay on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at around 14.30 WIB.

Furthermore, Sugeng ordered the Tanjung Uban PLP Base Operations Coordinator accompanied by the Captain of the State Ship (KN) SAROTAMA P112 and the Rescue Team to go to the field to confirm reports of the ship's failure.

"We are collaborating with UPP Tanjung Uban, Lanal Bintan, Posal Lagoi and Polairud Bintan to conduct inspections of the shipwreck," said Sugeng as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 17.

From the results of the inspection, the ship was named MT AMBER 82, but when checked there was no crew found.

In addition, the ship's cargo was also nil, then the lighting was turned off, and no pollution was found.

"The identification number of the ship (IMO), then the overall size of the ship's internal volume (GT), and the ship's flag, are all nil," said Sugeng.

Sugeng said that his party had installed a police line or police line on the ship that ran aground.

In addition, his party together with relevant agencies such as the Indonesian Navy, Satpolairud, and KSOP Kijang will carry out evacuation steps by pulling the MT AMBER 82 ship to Tanjung Uban PLP Base.

"We will immediately hold a coordination meeting with relevant agencies for an evaluation mechanism from the point of failure, including investigating the cause of the shipwreck," said Sugeng.
