Saudi Arabian Officials Want Anthony Joshua Vs Deontay Wilder

JAKARTA The head of the Saudi Arabian Sports Authority, Turkey, Alalshikh, wants Anthony Joshua (AJ) to board the ring against his old rival, Deontay Wilder, following Tyson Fury's retirement.

The duel between Joshua vs Fury, who will be titled Battle of Britain, is again scheduled after Fury lost his second in a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk last month.

However, these clashes don't seem to have happened because Fury instead made the decision to hang on to his boxing gloves, aka retire.

"If you want something about the British market, I would like to see Joshua and Wilder now. If Tyson is not available, why not Joshua and Wilder?" Alalshikh was quoted as saying by The Sun.

Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, also opened up the possibility of his client against The Bronze Bomber, Wilder's nickname. Thus, their duel could have taken place after Wilder fought Curtis Harper.

"If Wilder returns with a win, it looks like he is scheduled to fight again in February 2025. Dillian Whyte, I don't know. These are just the names I issued because AJ will fight," he said.

The clash between Joshua and Wilder has never happened before. However, his second fight has long been awaited by many boxing fans.

Both of these names were on track to fight in 2018 when they held all the heavyweight titles. However, the fight failed when Wilder chose to face Fury.

The fight ended in a controversial draw. Wilder then lost to Fury in two fights afterwards, namely in 2020 and 2021.
