DENPASAR - Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Kuta Police have transferred the case of suspect Vitalis Smirnov, a foreign national (WNA) from Russia to the Badung District Attorney regarding motorcycle theft.

South Kuta Police Commissioner (Kompol) I Gusti Ngurah Yudistira said the suspect was involved in the Honda Beat motorcycle theft case that occurred on November 16, 2024 in the Honeymoon Beach area, Jalan Pura Tegal Wangi, Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung Regency.

"The delegation was carried out after the investigation file of the case was declared complete (P21) by the prosecutor's office. Together with the suspect, investigators also submitted evidence in the form of a stolen motorbike," he said.

Yudistira said this delegation marked the readiness of the case to proceed to the trial stage.

"We have transferred the suspect with evidence to the Badung Public Prosecutor (JPU). With the complete file, we hope that the trial process can start soon," he said.

He explained that this case began when the suspect stole a motorcycle at the Honeymoon Beach tourist site in November last year.

The criminal act was successfully uncovered after a series of intensive investigations were carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Kuta Police.

From the results of the interrogation, the suspect admitted that he was desperate to steal a motorbike because he wanted to have a vehicle for a walk during the New Year's holiday.

The police chief also emphasized his commitment to continue to maintain the security of the South Kuta area, especially in tourist areas that are often targets of criminal acts.

"We urge the public, including tourists, to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious actions," he said.

The suspect is now facing a threat of punishment in accordance with the articles applied in this case.

The next legal process will be determined through a trial scheduled by the Badung District Attorney.
