Former Chairman Of The Surabaya District Court Becomes A Suspect, MA Recommends Dismissal To Prabowo

JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) will recommend the temporary dismissal of Rudi Suparmono as a judge following the stipulation of the former chairman of the Surabaya District Court as a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal.

The recommendation letter for the dismissal of Rudi Suparmono will later be sent to President Prabowo Subianto.

"Furthermore, we will propose the temporary dismissal of Brother R as a judge to the President," said the spokesman for the Supreme Court, Yanto, to reporters, Wednesday, January 15.

However, the Supreme Court is said to be waiting for an official letter from the Attorney General's Office (AGO) regarding the determination of the suspect and the detention of Rudi Suparmono.

On the other hand, Yanto said that the leadership of the Supreme Court asked all court officials of the Republic of Indonesia to remain calm. Then, continue to work professionally, with integrity and honesty.

"Implementing the policy line of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in leading, which is to remain with simplicity and stay away from disgraceful acts," said Yanto.

Rudi Suparmono, was officially named a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal. The former chairman of the Surabaya District Court allegedly received 43,000 Singapore dollars.

"Because sufficient evidence was found to be suspected of corruption, after an examination, the hospital was named a suspect," said the Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsu) at the Attorney General's Office (AGO), Abdul Qohar.

With the determination of the suspect, Rudi Suparmono will be temporarily detained at the Salemba detention center at the South Jakarta State Prosecutor's Office for the next 20 days.

In this case, Rudi Suparmono is suspected of violating Article 12 c in conjunction with Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 6 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 12 a in conjunction with Article 12 b in conjunction with Article 5 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 11 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption as amended by Shrimp number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
