3 Fishermen Whose Ships Died Engine In The Waters Of Kaledupa Sultra Successfully Evacuated By The SAR Team

The Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team, Kendari Basarnas, evacuated three fishermen whose ships had engine failures in the waters of Kaledupa, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS said the operation was carried out based on information from the public who reported that one fishing boat had engine failures around the waters of Kaledupa.

"We received the information in the early hours of the morning at 02.40 WITA," he said when contacted in Kendari, Antara, Wednesday, January 15.

He said that the three fishermen were Ahmad Ode (28), a resident of Baubau, and Ono (35) and Wandi (23) who were residents of Wanci, Wakatobi Regency.

Based on this information, his party dispatched the Wakatobi SAR Post Rescue Team to the location using a rubber boat at 02.56 WITA.

"The distance to the location from the Wakatobi SAR Post is about 33.7 nautical miles," he said.

At around 04.20 WITA the rescue team arrived at the location and conducted a search. "At 05.52 WITA the ship and three fishermen were found about 1.19 nautical miles northeast of the location in a safe condition," said Aminuddin.

The fishing boat was immediately pulled to the waters of Binongko Island to dock in a safe place.

Aminuddin said that the discovery of the fishing boat SAR operation was declared complete and closed.
