Acting President Choi Makes Sure To Ask For Responsibility In The Event Of Clashes During Yoon's Efforts To Arrest
Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea Choi Sang-mok ensured that he would hold him accountable if there were clashes in the attempt to arrest the president who was impeached by Yoon Suk-yeol.
He conveyed this when joint investigators and the police made efforts to carry out the second arrest warrant against Yoon.
"If an unexpected incident occurs, I will hold them very firmly responsible," Choi said in a statement.
Choi stressed the importance of avoiding physical clashes between state institutions, saying, "I have repeatedly emphasized this," and urged all parties involved to carry out "wise decisions and responsible actions" during the law enforcement process.
It is known that the Corruption Investigation Office for High Officials (CIO) and police have been seeking to re-implement an arrest warrant for President Yoon since early Wednesday, which caused a deadlock with the Presidential Security Service.
Choi described the moment as a critical moment for the rule of state law.
"This is a crucial moment to maintain order and rule of law in the Republic of Korea. The entire nation and the international community are watching closely," he said.
Speaking to the police and security officials involved in the implementation of the warrant, Choi said, "The two agencies exist to maintain the laws, order and safety of the public. Physical clashes between state institutions will result in irreparable damage to public trust and the position of the state in the international community. These actions cannot be justified under any circumstances."
