The Attorney General's Office On Tom Lembong's Examination: The Peak Of Settlement To Crown Witnesses
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) said that the examination of Thomas Trikasih Lembong or Tom Lembong was the peak of handling cases of suspected corruption in sugar imports at the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) for the 2015-2016 period.
The examination of Tom Lembong was carried out today. His statement will be intended for another suspect, namely Charles Sitorus as the former Director of Business Development of PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PT PPI).
"What is certain is that usually when the TTL has been examined for this suspect, this suspect has been examined for TTL, it means that investigators have lived at the peak in the context of its completion," said Head of the AGO, Harli Siregar to reporters, Tuesday, January 14.
That way, investigators will immediately hand over the suspect and evidence to the District Attorney. However, the timing has not been confirmed.
Harli only emphasized that investigators had worked hard to resolve the alleged corruption case.
"Yes, we emphasize that investigators will not play games, day and night focus on how to solve these cases, including Mr. TTL," he said.

On the other hand, Harli also mentioned that the examination was not only on Tom Lembong but also on Charles Sitorus.
During the examination, they will convey knowledge about the case for each other or what is commonly known as the examination of crown witnesses.
"The person concerned is being examined as a witness for another suspect. The suspect is also being investigated for the person concerned, so his name is a crown witness," said Harli.
In this series of handling cases, Tom Lembong was originally a suspect. The determination was due to granting a sugar import permit of 105,000 tons to private companies.
The granting of the permit violates the Decree of the Minister of Trade Number 527 of 2004. This is because only state-owned companies or SOEs are allowed to import sugar.
Tom Lembong was charged with Article 2 Paragraph 1 or Article 3 Juncto Article 18 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Corruption Crimes Juncto Article 55 Paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
