Examined By The KPK As A Suspect, Hasto Brings The Figures Of Bung Karno And Megawati

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) attended the investigation agenda of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigating team, Monday, January 13. On this occasion, he also mentioned the figure of the 1st President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno or Bung Karno and PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Hasto has been named a suspect by the KPK in the alleged bribery case for the determination of members of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period and the obstruction of his investigation.

The alleged bribery case dragged former PDIP candidate Harun Masiku, who is still at large. The KPK on the other hand carried out development and then named a new suspect in the case, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto (HK) and his confidant Donny Tri Istiqomah (DTI).

Hasto was also entangled in the alleged obstruction to the investigation of the Harun Masiku case. He is suspected of committing a number of actions that hinder the KPK's investigation in the case.

"From the beginning when we became the secretary general of the PDI-P, on the assignment of Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, we fought in upholding all constitutional mandates, fighting for democratic values, meritocracy systems, and fighting for the law," said Hasto at the KPK's Red and White House, Jakarta.

Hasto admitted that there are consequences that must be faced from a struggle. He admitted that he learned from Bung Karno and Megawati about the sacrifices that must be made in a struggle. Therefore, he emphasized that he would cooperate in undergoing the legal process at the KPK.

"We were taught by Bung Karno, by Mrs. Mega, that struggle requires a sacrifice to our ideals. That is what was taught to us, so that we were present with full responsibility and ready to follow the entire legal process," said Hasto.

In this case, the KPK had mentioned that Hasto together with Harun Masiku and his friends were suspected of bribing members of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2017-2022 period, Wahyu Setiawan and Agustiani Tio in December 2019.

Bribes were given so that Harun could be designated as a member of the DPR for the 2019-2024 period. Wahyu and Agustiani have now finished undergoing the legal process for accepting the bribe.
