This Is Patrick Kluivert's Target Against Australia And Bahrain

JAKARTA The new coach of the Indonesian national team, Patrick Kluivert, revealed his target in his first two matches in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Australia and Bahrain in March.

Kluiver targets Indonesia to collect four points from the two matches. The details are one point away against Australia and three points in the home game against Bahrain.

"My plan is to qualify for the World Cup, so we want to try closely against Australia, then we also want to be tight against Bahrain. We want to get four points," Kluiver said at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday, January 12.

Indonesia still has four matches left in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The four matches will determine the fate of the Garuda team, whether they can qualify directly, qualify through the fourth round, or even fall from the qualifying round.

For Kluivert, the remaining four matches are very important. The former Ajax Amsterdam, AC Milan, and Barcelona players call these four matches like finals that must be won.

"We will try to transmit feelings to the players so that we are all on one path to achieving our goals. Everyone also needs to support the team so that we can achieve our goals," added the 48-year-old coach.

In addition, Kluivert also explained two plans that had been prepared after being appointed as coach of the Garuda team. The plan includes short-term and long-term targets.

Qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is a short-term target for Kluivert, while his long-term goal is to bring Indonesia to appear in the 2028 Olympics and the 2030 World Cup.

"First, make an impact and see the results at the World Cup, but it will only last for six months. After that, we will build a team and implement it to be able to appear in the 2026 World Cup," he explained.

"This is our second plan and we will continue our journey in the second phase for the Olympics and the next edition of the World Cup," Kluiver concluded.
