Hasto Kristiyanto's Substitute Must Be A Bridge Between Faksi Prananda And Puan

JAKARTA The seat of the PDIP Secretary General is expected to be vacant soon after Hasto Kristiyanto was named a suspect by the KPK, a few weeks ago. A number of names such as Utut Adianto, Andi Wijajanto to Ahmad Basarah are predicted to replace Hasto.

Political observer of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Zaki Mubarak revealed, Megawati Soekarnoputri must be careful in choosing a replacement for Hasto. Because, this can create internal PDIP turmoil, especially between the factions of Prananda Prabowo (Nanan) and Puan Maharani.

According to him, Puan's pragmatic faction tends to want Hasto's position opposite to the government to be replaced immediately. Meanwhile, the idealized Nanan faction wants Hasto's position to be maintained. Moreover, the case that dragged Hasto seemed politically motivated.

"In my opinion, if there is a change, the best thing is to find a middle ground that can be accepted by both the Nanan faction and the Puan faction," said Zaki, Sunday, January 12, 2025.

Zaki predicts that Ahmad Basarah and Andi Wijojanto will find it difficult to be elected as secretary general to replace Hasto because both represent opposing groups. Basarah is considered pro-Puan, while Andi tends to be close to the Nanan faction.

He assessed that Utut Adianto's figure could be Megawati Soekarnoputri's alternative choice because he is a cadre who is not too strikingly inclined towards one of the factions within the PDIP. Although, Utut is considered to have shortcomings in leadership and competence.

(leadership and competence) is a challenge for Utut. Because he is not big and grows from the world of activism or movement. But in the short term, I think Utut is a better alternative than Basarah or Andi's choice," said Zaki.
