Papua Police Chief: Don't Be Lured By KKB, They Want Members To Come Out So They Can Attack

JAYAPURA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri asked the National Army-National Police personnel not to be provoked by various shootings carried out by armed criminal groups (KKB).

"Don't be easily provoked because that's what they want the members to come out so that the KKB can attack and carry out the shooting," said Fakhiri as quoted by Antara, Friday, April 16.

Currently, members are starting to move to enforce the law in Beoga, Puncak, Papua regarding the KKB shootings. It is estimated that the group began to move to various areas including Ilaga.

According to him, members were on alert, and civilians, especially motorcycle taxi drivers, had been asked not to serve passengers leaving Ilaga.

"The Head of the Puncak Police has gathered motorcycle taxi drivers and asked not to operate outside Ilaga, in order to avoid a crime," said Fakhiri.

He estimated that the casualties among the National Army-National Police could increase the KKB's logistics supply, both firearms, and ammunition.

This should be avoided. Fakhiri reminded that when he heard gunfire, there was no need to immediately move and get out of the post. Because KKB is deliberately fishing because it already knows the terrain.

"I along with all ranks of the National Army-National Police are doing our best to restore security conditions in the mountainous area, including in Intan Jaya and Puncak," said Inspector General Fakhiri.

During April, four civilians were killed as a result of being shot by KKB in Puncak Regency, two of whom work as teachers, one student, and a motorcycle taxi driver.
