Foreign Minister Sugiono: Economic Diplomacy Based On Pancasila Encourages Fairer Trade
JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said that the economic diplomacy based on Pancasila chosen by Indonesia would encourage fairer trade, ensuring Indonesia would continue to be active in global partnerships.
In the 2025 Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PPTM), Foreign Minister Sugiono said the focus of economic diplomacy was aimed at realizing Asta Cita.
Foreign Minister Sugiono explained that Indonesia's diplomacy in the era of President Prabowo Subianto was directed to encourage the transformation of the national economy proactively and flexiblely, based on mutual justice, independence and partnership, to encourage resilience, innovation and inclusion.
"Indonesia's economic diplomacy based on Pancasila will encourage fairer trade, expand the Indonesian product market abroad, and attract investment that supports national priorities," he explained at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, January 10.
For this reason, he continued, in order to increase economic cooperation in various non-traditional market sectors, Indonesia focuses on strengthening strategic partnerships with non-traditional market partners, as well as the goal of Indonesia's outbound investment.
"Indonesia is committed to completing the ongoing international trade agreement, in order to reduce trade tensions and provide clarity and protection for business actors, including for MSMEs," he explained.
Foreign Minister Sugiono said that Indonesia will continue to play an active role in global partnerships to support national food sovereignty policies and energy resilience and independence.
In addition, the commitment to sustainability and sustainable growth will also be one of the main pillars of Indonesian diplomacy.
Indonesia's economic diplomacy will fight for a more just system, highlighting various economic injustice and unfair trade policies and practices that occur, including for leading commodities, especially for developing countries and Global South.
"Therefore, economic diplomacy under President Prabowo's leadership will fight for a world economic system that is more just for developing countries and the Global South," he said.

Therefore, the focus of economic diplomacy is aimed at realizing Asta Cita, which includes accelerating the green energy transition, developing the blue economy, strengthening the digital and creative economy, and supporting downstream commodities," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
