Central PWI Chair Hendry Ch Builds Appreciation For Planting Journalist Programs For Food Security

BANJARMASIN Chairman of the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Hendry Ch Bangun, appreciated the Planting Journalists program initiated by PWI South Kalimantan. This program is considered in line with the national vision of realizing food security and being a clear proof of journalists' contributions outside the field of journalism.

Hendry expressed his appreciation when he visited the pilot garden on Pelita V Street, North Ulin Runway, Banjarbaru, Friday, January 10. This visit was carried out with the ranks of the Central PWI and PWI administrators of South Kalimantan Province.

"This activity supports Asta Cita President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, especially in the food security program. PWI South Kalimantan has utilized the land to the maximum and provided a positive example for PWI administrators in other areas," said Hendry, who was accompanied by the Secretary General of PWI Iqbal Irsyad, the General Treasurer of PWI Pusat M Nasir, the Chairperson of the 2025 HPN Pane Pandhan Committee, Panpel Secretary, Sarwani, Deputy Chair of the Seminar Division, Chelsia Chan and the ranks of the 2025 HPN Committee.

In the pilot garden, various commodities have been planted, such as chili, papaya, corn, tomatoes, and oranges. The harvest is planned to be distributed to journalists during the 2025 National Press Day (HPN).

The chairman of PWI of South Kalimantan Province, Zainal Helmie, explained that this program is part of a series of HPN 2025 activities. In addition to utilizing land in Banjarbaru, PWI South Kalimantan also manages five hectares of land in Jejangkit, Barito Kuala.

"We plant chilies, cucumbers, and various other vegetables to be productive. This is a form of support for the national food security program and efforts to make South Kalimantan a food barn for Kalimantan, especially the capital city of the archipelago," said Helmie.

Helmie added that the Planting Journalists program is in line with the food self-sufficiency agenda launched by the President of the Republic of Indonesia. In addition, this activity also supports the policies of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government in strengthening the food sector.

Regarding the peak of the 2025 HPN commemoration which will be held in South Kalimantan in February, Zainal Helmie invites the entire press community to make the event a success. Helmie hopes that President Prabowo Subianto can attend to provide direct support.

"Hopefully President Prabowo Subianto can attend the peak of the 2025 HPN commemoration later. This will be an important momentum for the Indonesian press to show its contribution in supporting government programs, especially in the food security sector," concluded Helmie, Chairman of PWI of South Kalimantan Province.
