Misinput URL, Fire Evacuation Warning Sent To All Los Angeles Residents

JAKARTA The forest fire has been hitting Los Angeles since last Wednesday, January 18. While people were still on standby for widespread fires, they received a warning message.

This message was sent directly by the government on Friday, January 10 via Android and iOS devices. The entire community is asked to evacuate fires to prevent more injuries or even fatalities.

"This is an emergency message from the Los Angeles District Fire Department. Evacuation alerts have been issued in your area. Stay alert to all threats and be prepared for evacuation," reads the message broadcast, citing from The Verge.

This warning may have left some people worried and immediately collected their valuables. However, shortly after his message was spread, the government made a clarification that they had made a mistake.

This clarification was published through the official Los Angeles County account on platform X, formerly known as Twitter, around 07.21 WIB. Supposedly, this evacuation should only be carried out for residents in the Kenneth Fire.

"The evacuation order for residents near the Kenneth Fire, which is currently raging in West Hills, has been wrongly issued throughout the district. This warning is only intended for residents of Calabasas and Agoura Hills," the account wrote.

Messages containing this clarification have also been sent via Android and iOS devices as before. Local officials, according to a CBS News report, explained that this error occurred because they included a damaged URL.

That way, the warning message sent to the entire Los Angeles community was a technical error. So far, there are no further problems with the warning messages being sent arbitrarily.
