Throughout 2024, Kertajati Airport Serves 413,240 Passengers
Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said, throughout 2024, passenger movements from and to West Java International Airport Kertajati, Majalengka, totaled 413,240 passengers.
"As much as 82.8 percent is a domestic flight, while 17.2 percent is an international flight. This passenger movement rate has tripled compared to 2023 which amounted to 135,535 passengers," he said.
Meanwhile, the number of aircraft movements throughout 2024 is 3,411 flights.
This number increased 158 percent compared to 2023 which was 1,323 flights.
The dominance of flights is still on domestic destinations with the most flight routes to and from Denpasar, Medan and Balikpapan.
"We are inviting airlines to open routes and serve flights regularly to and from Kertajati Airport. This airport area will also be developed optimally," said the Minister of Transportation.
The Minister of Transportation said there are four main strategies in the development of the Kertajati Airport area. First, optimizing the airport area of 1,800 hectares by placing strategic facilities that are integrated through one transportation mode system (APMS).
"The areas that will be integrated are the terminal building, mixed use commercial area, e-commerce hub, and Kertajati Aircraft Maintenance Center (KAMC)," explained the Minister of Transportation.
Second, developing a non-aeronautica facility or mixed use commercial area located in the middle of the airport potential area with an area of 21.9 ha.
The facility is a supporting facility that supports activities at airports, such as hotels, business activity spaces (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and, Exhibitions / MICE), leisure malls, parking buildings and others.
Third, developing an e-commerce hub as a cargo logistics center. This area has an area of 68.4 hectares with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.
Kertajati Airport will increase cargo activity by providing warehouse rates and air cargo/regulated agents (RA) rates, increasing flight routes and frequencies, and providing trucking incentives.
The fourth is by developing the Kertajati Aircraft Maintenance Center (KAMC) on an area of 84.2 hectares. In KAMC, there are airport maintenance facilities or Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO).
Based on data from the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, 46 percent of Indonesian aircraft are still carrying out MRO activities abroad.
This shows that there is a market opportunity to develop the MRO facility in Kertajati.

Kertajati Airport will also take a number of steps to increase the movement of passengers and flights.
Among other things, by rebranding the airport through promotions and bundling discounts with tourist tickets and hotels, maximizing the position as an airport for Umrah and Hajj departures, as well as providing incentives to airlines that open new routes.
"Kertajati Airport has good potential. We from the Ministry of Transportation support all efforts made to develop Kertajati Airport," concluded the Minister of Transportation.
