Komdigi Extends Cooperation With AWS, Asks For Improved Investment
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has extended strategic cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), to answer the challenges of digital transformation and the need for the development of national digital talent.
Through this extension of cooperation with AWS, the Minister of Communication and Digo, Meutya Hafid, reaffirmed Komdigi's commitment to make Indonesia the center of the digital ecosystem in ASEAN.
Currently, AWS has invested 5 billion US dollars (Rp81 trillion) in Indonesia since 2021. Meutya asked AWS to continue to improve in line with the strengthening of the digital economy.
"Therefore, we ask AWS to increase its portion of investment in Indonesia to ensure balanced growth according to our potential," said Meutya in her official statement.
Meutya also asked AWS to see a projected growth in data center capacity in Indonesia, which is estimated to have jumped by 260 percent in the next few years, as a great opportunity to expand investment.
According to the Minister of Trade, Indonesia is not only a big market, but also strategic. So according to him, the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) markets and Indonesian cloud infrastructure cannot be ignored.
"I encourage AWS to provide a more balanced investment proportion in the ASEAN region, with Indonesia as the top priority," said Meutya.

However, AWS is committed to continuing to support the development of Indonesia's digital talent through cloud computing training and certification programs. This initiative aims to create a competent and ready-to-compete workforce in the era of the global digital economy.
"We will not stop encouraging global parties such as AWS to optimize their contribution to ensure Indonesia becomes the largest digital power in the region," concluded Meutya.
