Prabowo And Anwar Ibrahim Meet In Kuala Lumpur, Discuss Global Challenges
JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, arrived at Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Malaysia, on Thursday, January 9 at around 10:00 local time.
This visit was carried out in the context of a private meeting with the Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, who was paired with lunch together.
During the visit, President Prabowo and PM Anwar Ibrahim were scheduled to discuss a number of strategic steps to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
"The President plans to meet the Malaysian Prime Minister. The two leaders will have lunch together and exchange views on global conditions and relations between the two countries," said Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat, Yusuf Permana, in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday.

This visit is Prabowo's first moment visiting Malaysia after officially serving as President of the Republic of Indonesia. Previously, a meeting between Prabowo and PM Anwar Ibrahim had occurred in October 2024 in Jakarta, shortly after Prabowo's inauguration as President. At that time, PM Anwar congratulated him on the inauguration in person.
According to an official statement from the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) released in Putrajaya, Thursday, this working visit is an important first step under Indonesia's new leadership.

The two leaders are scheduled to discuss bilateral cooperation in various fields and explore new partnership opportunities. In addition, with Malaysia taking over the role of Chair of ASEAN this year, discussions will also include strengthening ASEAN Community Development, regional cooperation, and joint efforts to face global challenges.
The private lunch which will be held by PM Anwar Ibrahim is also part of this visit agenda, marking the close relationship between the two leaders of the country.
