Israel Violates Ceasefire Again, Fires Flare Bombs To 'Attack' Mayor's House
JAKARTA - Lebanese media reported six violations by Israel against the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon at the end of last November.
State news agency NNA said gunfire from Israeli tanks hit the residence of mayor Bin Jbeil in southern Lebanon.
Israeli soldiers equipped with machine guns launched a search operation in Maroun El Ras in southern Lebanon, the broadcaster said.
Military vehicles were also seen moving on the outskirts of Maroun El Ras as reconnaissance drones flew over Lebanese airspace, NNA said.
According to the Lebanese media, Israeli army forces kidnapped six Syrian nationals in the city of Mess El Jabal before releasing three of them. Three Syrian citizens who were released were then stopped by Lebanese intelligence agents for questioning.
As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Wednesday, January 8, Israeli soldiers also fired two flare bombs in Aalma El Chaeb in southern Lebanon on dawn as Lebanese civil defense crews attempted to retrieve the bodies of several people killed in Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon which then forced the crew to flee.
Israeli army forces also carried out a major explosion in the city of Mess El Jabal, local media said.
Lebanese authorities have reported more than 400 ceasefire violations by Israel, including the deaths of 32 people and injuries to 39 others, since the deal came into force on 27 November.

The ceasefire agreement aims to end the 14-month battle between the Israeli army and the Hezbollah group since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023.
Under the terms of the ceasefire, Israel is required to withdraw its troops to the south of the Blue Line a de facto border gradually, while Lebanese troops will be deployed in southern Lebanon within 60 days.
Data from the Lebanese Ministry of Health shows that since Israel's attack on Lebanon began on October 8, 2023, at least 4,063 people have been killed, including women, children, and health workers, while another 16,664 have been injured.
