Surviving With Fruits, Australian Students Selamat After 2 Weeks Disappeared In Mount Park Kosciuszko

JAKARTA - An Australian student who had been missing for two weeks near the country's highest mountain, was found safe.

The student survived by looking for berries, drinking water from the river and finding two muesli trunks left by other climbers, the police said.

Hadi Nazari, a 23-year-old student from Melbourne, disappeared while traveling with his friends on December 26 at Kosciuszko National Park.

Nazari was discovered on Wednesday, January 8, by a group of pedestrians who alerted authorities, police said in the state of New South Wales.

"This is the fourteenth day we are looking for him and he is in good spirits and in excellent condition, it's incredible," NSW Police Inspector Josh Broadfoot said.

The student is in a "very excited" condition and has not suffered any significant injuries.

More than 300 people are looking for Nazari in steep bush forests, police said. This national park is home to Mount Kosciuszko as high as 2,228 meters (7,310 feet).
