Diluted By River Currents, SD 05 Lubuak Alung West Sumatra Building Is Threatened With Collapse

JAKARTA - A total of four out of eight locals at SDN 05 Lubuak Alung, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) are threatened with collapse due to continuing to be eroded by rivers that have started to occur in recent years.

"Two of the four rooms are study rooms, namely grades V and VI. Due to situations that do not allow our class V teaching and learning process to be moved to the Library," said Head of SDN 05 Lubuak Alung Afrida Kamil when contacted from Pariaman, Wednesday, January 8, quoted by Antara.

He said the teaching and learning process for class V students had to be moved because the river water led to the room, endangering the safety of students who were studying.

As for other rooms, namely class VI and the teacher's room were not moved because they were considered relatively safe compared to the local class V.

"Until now, none of the school buildings have been damaged but are in danger of collapsing because the water flow is already on the edge of the school building. However, toilets have collapsed by the current," he said.

He said that his party was not only worried that the school building would be damaged but also that children would fall into the river with a height from the surface of the school's land of about seven meters.

"Currently the teacher is on guard so that no children play on the brink," he said.

He said that a few years earlier the width of the river that eroded the school's land was only around 1 meter, but slowly the water flow began to grow so that the width of the river widened.

Afrida said the school was unable to handle the problem because the funds needed were large so that he had conveyed the condition to related parties accompanied by a proposal for handling applications.

He hopes that this problem can be handled immediately so that the condition does not damage school facilities and the teaching and learning process can be carried out safely and comfortably.
