Hanyut Man In Citarum River Bandung Found Dead, Evacuated To Cihampelas

The joint SAR team managed to find and evacuate a man named Iwan Suhendar (28) who was previously reported to have drowned after falling from his boat on the Citarum River, West Bandung on Tuesday, January 7.

Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Bandung SAR Office, Moch Adip, said that after deploying personnel, the victim was found and evacuated in the Cihampelas District, West Bandung Regency, dead.

"The victim was found dead at 09.50 WIB, then the team moved to the location of the discovery and immediately evacuated the victim," Adip said in Bandung Wednesday, January 8, confiscated by Antara.

Adip explained that the victim was previously reported to have fallen and drowned on Tuesday at around 07.00 WIB into the Citarum River, with an estimated depth of three meters while looking for junk in the river.

"It is known that the victim had epilepsy and his illness recurred when he was on a barge and the victim fell," he said.

In the search process, his party dispatched personnel in charge of conducting sweeps around the scene with a radius of 500 meters to the downstream of the river using a number of equipment needed such as ships and thermal drones.

"The SAR team conducted a search using one LCR unit and also air monitoring using the thermal drone," he said.

Adip said that with the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation in the Citarum River, West Bandung was declared complete and closed.

"As well as all elements involved, their respective units are returned," he said.
