Ministry Of Industry Records Export Value Of HKT Products Reaches 277 Million US Dollars Throughout 2024

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) reports that the export value of mobile phone, computer and tablet (HKT) products has reached 277 million US dollars throughout 2024.

The export value of electronic products until the third quarter of 2024 has crossed 10.07 billion US dollars, which is dominated by exports of telecommunications / telephone equipment, household electronics, electrical equipment and components.

"From this achievement, it can be seen that Indonesia is able to export high-tech products such as smartphones," said the Ministry of Industry's Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Setia Diarta in a written statement, Tuesday, January 7.

Setia also appreciated the HKT industrial company which has made Indonesia its production base and continues to consistently export its products, one of which is PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia.

The Ministry of Industry appreciates PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia's commitment to meeting the TKDN value requirements, which not only encourages the strengthening of local industries, but also creates jobs and technology transfers in Indonesia, which is a real step in building a high competitive industry.

"PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia recorded the highest TKDN achievement, which was 40.30 percent for the SM-A356E model," he said.

The production from PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia was recorded at 14 million units or around 28 percent of all HKT products produced in Indonesia.

In addition to meeting domestic market needs, PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia also shows extraordinary export performance. Throughout 2024, the export performance of PT Samsung Electronic Indonesia has reached 1.56 million units that have been exported to several countries in ASEAN.

"We express our deepest appreciation to PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia for sending its smartphone products to be exported to the Philippines, which is part of the export of PT Samsung Electronics Indonesia amounting to 1.56 million units," he said.

To note, throughout 2023, domestic HKT production reaches 50 million units with only 3.1 million imports. This means that as many as 94 percent of HKT products are domestic production.
