PAN Please Dismiss Shin Tae Yong From Being A Polemic: For The Sake Of Improvement Of National Team Solidity
Deputy PAN Saleh Partaonan Daulay hopes that all parties respect PSSI's decision to dismiss Shin Tae Yong as coach of the Indonesian National Team. Saleh believes that this decision has been based on the evaluation and objective assessment of improving the quality of the national team in the future.
"STY's dismissal was confirmed not because he didn't like it. But more on efforts to improve national team solidity and cohesiveness between coaches, players, officials, and PSSI," Saleh told reporters, Tuesday, January 7.
"So there is no need for polemics related to the dismissal of STY. Behind this decision, it is hoped that there will be improvements in the quality of the national team as a whole," he continued.
The chairman of Commission VII of the DPR understands that football lovers in the country must be sad to be separated from STY. Because it is an undeniable fact that STY has recorded a number of achievements while leading the Indonesian national team.
"For example, he managed to boost the FIFA Garuda ranking from 174 to 127, leading the national team to qualify for the last 16 Asian trophies for the first time, bringing the U-23 national team to become the semifinalist of the 2024 Asian cup, young Garuda also almost penetrated the Olympics, and no less important, he was able to bring Indonesia into the third round of the 2026 world cup in the Asian zone," said Saleh.
This achievement, according to Saleh, is very good and proud. Given that STY became the coach of the national team for no more than 5 years.
"Given these achievements, many public and football lovers love STY. They will certainly be saddened by this decision. In dialectics and debates, there are many elements that still want to defend STY," he said.

However, the legislator for the North Sumatra II electoral district reminded that the decision had been taken and everyone was waiting for his replacement. The hope, said Saleh, is that the new coach of the national team can be much better than STY.
"We all also dream that the Indonesian national team can triumph in the world cup. Before that, we must thank STY. He is expected to remain part of the national team. At the very least, his suggestions and input are still needed and awaited," concluded Saleh.
