The IPhone 17 Will Return To Carrying A Curved Design With New Materials
JAKARTA - The latest rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 will come with significant design changes, leaving a flat edge that has become the hallmark of the last few generations.
According to a report from Fixed-Focus Digital on China's social media platform Weibo, Apple is reportedly developing a new manufacturing process that allows for a smooth pairing between materials, creating a subtle transition between the windshield and the back of the device.
This process is said to produce a curved edge design that removes the separate frame on the chassis. If true, this design reminds early-generation iPhones of up to the iPhone 6, before switching to flat edges on the iPhone 12 to the iPhone 16.
According to the leak, the "Deco connection" area which appears to refer to the connection between the device's fuse and the rear glass will be slope-shaped, not a decisive move like the current model.
The curved design provides a finer aesthetics and may feel more comfortable when held. However, flat edges provide a little more interior space on the device and are considered easier to hold, especially for the larger iPhone size.

Other rumors say that Apple is facing technical challenges to produce a thinner iPhone 17 model. If true, then a curved design that sacrifices interior space will be an impossible step to take.
Although this claim is interesting, Fixed-Focus Digital does not have a consistent track record of leaking information about Apple. Some of the previous predictions, such as the termination of the iPhone Fold project, have been denied by more trusted sources.
If these rumors are true, the iPhone 17 may mark Apple's return to a curved design that was popular in the past. However, as usual, new confirmations will come as Apple announces this product, most likely in September 2025.
