Viral Elephant In Wonogiri Chained, Disporapar: Again Birahi His Behavior Is Aggressive
JATENG - The Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism (Disporapar) of Wonogiri Regency in Central Java (Central Java) said that elephants that had gone viral on social media (medsos) due to chains were experiencing a period of birahy.
"The poled elephant position is to maintain the safety of makot (an elephant handler) and visitors," said Head of Disporapar Wonogiri Haryanto in Wonogiri, Central Java, Sunday, January 5, as reported by Antara.
In fact, he continued, handling alone is not enough to respond to elephants that are inflamed. Therefore, the participation is carried out on male and female elephants.
"Even though there is a fence that strong, that high, it can easily be torn down. Including chains, if when the elephant is aggressive it can be cut easily," he said.
He said the elephant's role in the Gajah Mungkur (WGM) Reservoir area would be conveyed by the end of the season. According to him, for male elephants, the elephant's lust period occurs for about 1-6 months within one year.
As for female elephants for two weeks but it can occur up to three times within one year.
"This elephant must be chainsed up because during the business period its behavior is more aggressive, including to protect female elephants so that unwanted things do not happen," he said.

Even though they were chains, he said, once a day the chain was removed and the elephant was taken for a walk by Makot so as not to stress.
He also rejected the assumption that the WGM collection of elephants was not maintained.
"If you say the elephant is not maintained or stressed, I don't think so, because it can be measured from the health of the elephant itself," he said.
He said the elephant's health condition can be seen from the nails and skin tone.
"According to our understanding, the veterinarians there are indeed in good health, fat, clean," he said.
