Israel Destroys War-Separator Limits In Lebanon, UNIFIL Affirms Resolution Of 1701 Violated

JAKARTA - The UN Temporary Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) condemned Israel's actions in destroying the control tower belonging to the Lebanese army. The Israeli army also destroyed a milestone or boundary separating the warring party.

In a statement on Saturday, UNIFIL said it witnessed Israeli bulldozers destroying blue milestones marking the "withdrawal line" between Israel and Lebanon in Labbounh.

Israel also destroyed a control tower belonging to the Lebanese Armed Forces near UNIFIL's position.

Israel's actions sparked strong criticism from UNIFIL. Israel is considered to have violated resolutions of 1701 and international law intentionally by destroying UNIFIL's clearly recognizable property, and the infrastructure of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

"We call on all parties to avoid any action, including the destruction of civilian property and infrastructure, which could jeopardize efforts to stop the dispute," the UN forces said, quoted by Antara.

As of Saturday night, Israel had committed 383 violations of the ceasefire agreement, which killed 32 people and injured 39 others, according to Anadolu records based on Lebanese official data.

Under the agreement, Israel must gradually withdraw its troops south of the Blue Line, which is a de facto border, while Lebanese troops must be deployed to the south within 60 days.
