Inaugurating AI Center Universitas Brawijaya, Minister Of Trade Encourages Its Practice Of Supporting Food Security
JATIM - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid inaugurated the AI Center artificial intelligence technology development center at Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, East Java (East Java).
After the inauguration ceremony, Meutya said that the Universitas Brawijaya AI Center already has extraordinary facilities.
"We will of course also encourage the output to be extraordinary later, including artificial intelligence applications that are very helpful, for example in the field of food security," he said on Sunday, January 5, quoted by Antara.
Universitas Brawijaya AI Center was presented to support research activities related to the development and utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in various fields.
Meutya hopes that the presence of the AI Center at the Rectorate Building of Universitas Brawijaya can encourage increased use of AI technology in fields such as food security, health, agribusiness, logistics, and manufacturing.
"This can be used by farmers, farmers in Indonesia, to achieve our target of self-sufficiency," he said.
Universitas Brawijaya AI Center provides training and certification programs that include machine learning materials, deep banking, natural language processing, as well as the application of AI for students, lecturers, and professionals in collaboration with AWS, Microsoft, and Google.
In addition, the AI Center offers consulting services to help companies and institutions that want to utilize artificial intelligence technology to support business and operational processes.
The AI Center expert team will assist in planning, implementation, and evaluation of the use of AI-based systems in accordance with the specific needs of companies and institutions.
Meutya also revealed that the country still lacks people with digital capabilities.
He said efforts to bring more human resources with digital capabilities required collaboration between universities and the government.
"So, we have collaborated for the first stage of at least 500 students, then also 100 certifications and in the future of course there will be more," he said.
"We are very supportive because we predict that there will be nine million needs for digital quality by 2030," said Meutya, who hopes that the efforts of Universitas Brawijaya can be imitated by other universities.
Universitas Brawijaya Chancellor Prof. Widodo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D.Med.Sc. hopes that the presence of the AI Center can encourage increased research activities with partners to develop AI.
"We also ask for the direction of the Minister and also other assistance, relations for the development of digital talent in Indonesia," he said.
