Minister Of Public Works Targets The Construction Of The Semarang-Demak Toll Road To Be Completed In 2027

JAKARTA - The Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo targets the construction of the Semarang-Demak toll road to be completed in April 2027. Dody said the construction of the Semarang-Demak toll road is still running according to the timeline with a complete target of April 2027.

"Overall there are no obstacles, only during seasons like this, strong winds, heavy rain and automatic work capacity also decrease because of the safety of work that we prioritize," he said, in Jakarta, Wednesday.

It was recorded that the physical progress of the Semarang-Demak toll road work until December 23, 2024, reached 29.68 percent with the target of completion in April 2027.

According to Dody, currently, the progress of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road section 1 in the Soil improvement stage or engineering process to increase the carrying capacity of the soil is more stable, so that when the asphalt work process is more stable.

"We are building this so that the tidal wave which is so many hectares does not happen again during the tidal season. Then we also hope that flooding in the middle of the city can be reduced due to tidal waves," he also said.

The Semarang-Demak toll road has a total length of 26.95 km built in 2 sections, namely Section 1 Kaligawe-Sayung along 10.64 km above sea and Section 2 of the 16.31 km Sayung-Demak section on land and has been operating since February 25, 2023.

For Section 1 Kaligawe-Sayung, the government portion is divided into 3 packages, namely Package 1A with Hutama Karya (HK) and Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) with 46.2 percent physical progress, Package 1B is Housing Development (PP), Wijaya Karya (WIKA) and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) with 27.6 percent progress and Package 1C is Adhi Karya and Sinohydro with 20.4 percent progress.

The presence of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road is expected to further complement the connectivity of road networks in the northern part of Central Java as well as connect strategic areas such as ports, airports, industrial areas, and religious tourism areas, especially in the Demak area.

In addition, with the construction of toll roads that are integrated with this sea wall, it is hoped that the problem of tidal flooding in East Semarang, especially Kaligawe-Sayung, which has resulted in significant economic losses, can be resolved.
