Extreme Weather, Series Of New Year's Eve 2025 Events In Scotland Usually Gets 60 Thousand Tourists Canceled
JAKARTA - A series of events celebrating New Year's Eve 2025 in Edinburgh, Scotland, which usually attracts 60,000 tourists, has to be canceled.
The cancellation of the series of events that are members of the Hognay Celebration follows strong winds that continue to blow in Scotland.
The events included street parties and fireworks, concerts at the open arena at Princes Street Gardens, to traditional torch relays.
"Unfortunately, we cannot continue the necessary preparations for the Outdoor Hognay event in Edinburgh due to extreme weather and weather forecast conditions," said Unique Assembly spokesman, who runs the Hognay festival in Edinburgh, quoted from the Mirror, Tuesday 31 December.
The organizers said those who had purchased tickets could contact related contacts for refunds.
However, the organizers ensured that the 2025 New Year's Eve celebration event in Edinburgh which was held indoor or indoors would still be held.
Organizers said all indoor events took place as planned during the festival, including the Swamplesque performance at Assembly Hall, the Idlewild concert which tickets were sold out at Assembly Rooms, Bairns New Year Revels and New Year Revels at Assembly Rooms, and the Bundlelit Concert which tickets were sold out at St. Cathedral.
"We also continue to look forward to the dense First Footin' and Sprogmanay events on New Year's Day a series of free and paid indoor music shows across the city centers, Leith, and Portobello," the organizers said in a statement.
