Polda Metro: Number Of Crime Cases Increases By 2 Percent, Settlement Drops By 3 Percent

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto said 58,055 criminal acts occurred in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya during the 2024 period.

The jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya includes Jakarta, Tangerang City, South Tangerang, Depok, and parts of Bekasi.

"The total number of crimes or crimes is 58,055 cases," said Karyoto at the Jakarta Metro Police Year-End Release event, Tuesday, December 31.

This figure shows a two percent increase when compared to the number of crimes that occurred during the 2023 period.

Based on the data, 57,157 crime cases occurred in the jurisdiction of the Polda Metro Jaya during the 2023 period.

"Experiencing an increase or an increase of 2 percent or 898 cases from 2023," he said.

In contrast, the number of case settlements during the 2024 period actually decreased by 3 percent. Noted, there are 40,750 cases that have been completed.

"The number of crime clearance is 40,750 cases, a decrease of 3 percent or 1,200 from 2023," said Karyoto.

Despite the number of cases and their resolution, Karyoto also conveyed several prominent cases that had been handled by his staff. For cases investigated at the General Criminal Directorate, such as the murder of a child from the celebgram Tamara Tyasmara to online gambling, Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi).

"A prominent case of the case, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, vidusia, embezzlement of vehicles to Timor Leste, the murder of the celebgram child Tamara Tyasmara, falsification of official licenses from the TNI Headquarters, counterfeiting of currencies worth Rp22 billion, obline gambling of Komdigi employees, discovery of headless corpses," he said.

"Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya, child pornography, illegal metrology, cases of economic cases," continued Karyoto.

As for the prominent cases handled by the Directorate of Drug Investigation, namely the disclosure of the Clandestine Lab to the smuggling of international narcotics networks.

"The covert laboratory cases, clinical labs, MDMB-4en-PINACA related to the international network of China-Jakarta and other provinces, the Afghanistan-Jakarta international network narcotics case with 389 kilograms of methamphetamine evidence," said Karyoto.
