Prosecutors' Discourse Can Demand 50 Years, AGO: Returned To Existing Regulations
The Indonesian Attorney General's Office (AGO) said the discourse on prosecuting by the public prosecutor (JPU) for up to 50 years would refer to existing regulations.
Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, explained that his party is in operational level, so law enforcement will refer to current regulations.
"So, it must be returned to existing regulations. Yes, of course, the Corruption Act (Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption)," said Harli at the AGO's Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 31, as reported by Antara.
Harli made this statement in response to President Prabowo Subianto so that corruptors were severely punished for up to 50 years.
Furthermore, he explained that the President's thoughts were in the context of philosophical thinking of benefit.

Previously, President Prabowo at the National Development Planning Conference (Musrenbangnas) in Jakarta, Monday (30/12), criticized the judges who handed down light sentences to corruptors, especially if the potential value of state losses due to the riots reached hundreds of trillions.
"The people understand that the robbery of hundreds of trillions of sentences (years)," said the President in front of high-ranking officials of ministries/agencies and regional heads while giving direction at the Musrenbangnas.
