Said Abdullah: Determination Of Hasto Kristiyanto As A Suspect Don't Become An Opinion Court
JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P DPP, Said Abdullah, appealed to the legal case against Hasto Kristiyanto to be addressed proportionally and not to be used as an opinion court. According to him, Hasto has shown his compliance with the law by always fulfilling the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
"I hope this case is not framed into an opinion court. Let's put this problem in the corridor. Mas Hasto has shown compliance with the law, and it must be appreciated," said Said Abdullah in a written statement, Saturday, December 28.
Said also asked the KPK to maintain its independence from the intervention of any party so that the dignity of the anti-corruption agency is maintained. In addition, the KPK needs to provide an explanation to the public regarding allegations of political intervention in determining Hasto's legal status.
"KPK must act proportionally and maintain institutions from intervention. If there are public doubts about the KPK's decision regarding Mas Hasto, it must be explained transparently so that public trust in the KPK is maintained," said Said.
Regarding speculation that the General Chairperson of the PDI-P will also be summoned by the KPK, Said emphasized that this was irrelevant. He stated that the legal case against Hasto had nothing to do with the General Chair.
"As far as I know, this case has nothing to do with the General Chair. Do not lead further opinions from the legal process itself. We must protect this country based on law, not opinion or power," he said.
Said reminded the impact of a prolonged polemic on national stability, especially in the economic sector. According to him, the current global economic situation is uncertain, such as the potential for a new tariff policy from President Donald Trump, the slowdown in China's economy, and its impact on Indonesia's trade.

"If we continue to be noisy, investors will choose to leave Indonesia, especially investment in the portfolio sector, which costs very expensive for our economy. President Prabowo needs a conducive investment climate to create jobs and encourage economic growth," he said.
According to Said, the government needs to build more targeted public communication to provide clarity to the public and investors. He hopes that the government's message can be conveyed consistently by the authorities so as not to cause confusion.
"I invite all parties to maintain optimism and national stability. Let's build hope together for a better national life," he concluded.
