Inconsequential Hoaxes Mass Destroyed Britain's 5G Tower
JAKARTA - A number of transmitting towers belonging to the British telecommunication operator network were suddenly attacked and damaged by the masses. The perpetrators said that the 5G transmitter network played a role in the spread of COVID-19.
Quoted from The Verge, at least three of the existing 5G network towers in the UK were attacked by mobs, on Sunday, April 5. The attack did not only take place on the tower, but also involved a number of technicians and engineers a number of operators.
This case was immediately handled by the local police, in the Merseyside and Birmingham areas. It is not certain what the motive for this attack is, but information circulating says this attack occurred because of a conspiracy theory related to the corona virus with the 5G network.
"This 5G story is bullshit, the worst kind of fake news. The reality is this mobile network is very important to all of us," said National Health Service (NHS) Director Stephen Powis.
"This is a mobile network used by emergency services and medical personnel and I am very angry, very upset that people are attacking the infrastructure we need to respond to this health emergency," he continued.
For information, hoax news and conspiracy theories state that radio waves generated by the 5G tower are the cause of the COVID-19 disease. This news immediately spread quickly to social media such as YouTube and Facebook.
This ridiculous opinion was immediately denied by the fact-checking organization Full Fact and several other experts. Because the theory does not count countries such as Iran, Japan or Indonesia that have not used 5G but have been hit by the corona virus outbreak.
"The story of 5G has no scientific credence and is certainly a potential disruption, like any other misinformation, to control the COVID-19 epidemic," said professor at the Colorado School for Public Health, Jonathan M. Samet.
