Jasa Marga Records 1.1 Million Vehicles Leaving Jabotabek During The 2024 Christmas Day Holiday

JAKARTA - PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk. recorded 1,170,098 vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area in the period 18-24 December 2024. This figure is up 17.7 percent when compared to normal traffic of 994,005 vehicles. When compared to the Christmas 2023 period, the total volume of this traffic was lower by 1,272,434 vehicles.

Meanwhile, this figure is the cumulative number of traffic flows (traffic) from the four Main Toll Gates (GT), namely GT Cikupa (to Merak), GT Ciawi (to Puncak), GT Cikampek Utama (to Trans Java) and GT Kalihurip Utama (to Bandung).

For traffic distribution leaving Jabotabek towards all three directions, the majority of 548,347 vehicles (46.9 percent) headed East (Trans Java and Bandung), 360,216 vehicles (30.7 percent) headed West (Merak), and 261,535 vehicles (22.4 percent) headed South (Puncak).

The details of the traffic distribution are as follows, namely traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java via GT Cikampek Utama Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, with a total of 286,346 vehicles, an increase of 46.6 percent from normal traffic.

Meanwhile, traffic leaving Jabotabek heading towards Bandung via GT Kalihurip Utama Cipularang Toll Road, with a total of 262,001 vehicles, an increase of 18.9 percent from normal traffic.

Therefore, the total traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Trans Java and Bandung through the two GTs was 548,347 vehicles, an increase of 31.9 percent from normal traffic.

Next, Traffic leaving Jabotabek towards Merak via the Cikupa GT Tangerang-Merak Toll Road was 360,216 vehicles, an increase of 8.0 percent from normal traffic.

Meanwhile, the number of vehicles leaving Jabotabek towards Puncak via GT Ciawi Jagorawi Toll Road was 261,535 vehicles, an increase of 6.8 percent from normal traffic.

Jasa Marga's Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, said that on the D-1 Christmas holiday 2024 traffic leaving Jabotabek at four main toll gates was recorded at 176,658 vehicles, an increase of 35.6 percent from normal traffic of 130,281 vehicles.

In addition, Jasa Marga also recorded an increase in vehicles heading East, namely Trans Java and Bandung on Tuesday, December 24 at GT Cikampek Utama, as many as 48,249 vehicles increased by 88.4 percent from normal traffic as many as 25,609 vehicles and GT Kalihurip Utama as many as 40,538 vehicles increased 56.5 percent from normal traffic as many as 25,898 vehicles.

"By looking at the increase in the volume of vehicles leaving the Jabotabek area towards the East and South, Jasa Marga ensures that Jasa Marga Group toll road operations run optimally. Especially on toll roads that have the potential to become the favorite tourist destination for road users during long holidays, including the Jakarta-Cikampek and Cipularang Toll Roads towards Trans Java and Bandung and Jagorawi Toll Road towards Puncak," said Lisye in her statement, Wednesday, December 25.

During the 2024 Christmas holiday period, the peak of traffic occurred on Saturday, December 21, 2024, with total vehicles reaching 195,988 vehicles, an increase of 17.6 percent from normal traffic of 166,673 vehicles.

Lisye also appealed to toll road users to anticipate the journey of the Nataru 2024/2025 holiday period well. Before entering the toll road, make sure the vehicle and driver are in prime condition, ensure the adequacy of fuel, balance electronic money cards and use enough time to rest in rest areas, and obey signs and directions from officers in the field.
