National Police Chief And TNI Commander Check Congestion Paths In Bali

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto directly checked the readiness of the post, lane and security at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport to anticipate congestion during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year periods.

The checks reflect on the previous year, many tourists were forced to walk to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport because they were stuck in traffic jams, even on the toll road to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

"We will shift to the airport to carry out direct checks regarding efforts and anticipation of events in 2024 where we know that there has been a long traffic jam," said the National Police Chief, Friday, December 20.

According to him, last year's experience will be improved in securing Nataru this time. This is important considering that Bali is the destination most visited by domestic and foreign tourists.

"Of course it's part of the evaluation that we have to improve for this year so that it doesn't happen again," he said.

To avoid congestion, the National Police has increased the number of personnel at traffic congestion nodes, optimizing parking pockets and implementing traffic engineering.

"There will be steps starting from increasing the number of personnel carrying out traffic engineering including route arrangements and then setting up parking pockets that must also be prepared," he said.

In addition, the National Police Chief asked to disseminate the latest information to the public through publication channels in mass media and social media.

This includes information to the public who will return, airlines, and people who stay at hotels.

"So this becomes a unit of information that can continue to be obtained and then this can reduce when there is a peak density of people who will depart or go down at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport," he said.

The National Police held the Supreme Candle Operation for 13 days from December 21 to January 2, 2025, involving 141,605 joint personnel from the National Police, the TNI and other stakeholders.

Hundreds of thousands of joint personnel were on guard at 2,794 posts consisting of 1,852 security posts, 735 service posts, 207 integrated posts to secure 61,452 security objects consisting of churches, shopping centers, terminals, stations, ports, airports, tourist attractions and objects celebrating the new year.
