The 2024 Coursera Learning Trend: Interest In GenAI Soars Up To 330 Percent In Indonesia

JAKARTA Coursera, one of the largest online learning platforms, shared reports about learning trends this year. Unlike last year, people are now increasingly interested in technology.

In the report distributed, Coursera revealed that interest in Artificial Intelligence Generation (GenAI) learning is getting higher. This trend seems to be related to the recruitment of prospective workers who need to have AI skills.

From Coursera's internal data, one person in Asia Pacific will register for the GenAI course every two minutes. This data is in line with the Microsoft 2024 Work Trend Index report which states that AI skills are a priority for recruiters.

Meanwhile, Coursera noted an increase in GenAI registration in Indonesia by 330 percent. This increase was driven by several courses from large companies that really understand technology and AI, one of which is Google.

There are several courses popular at Coursera, including Google AI Essential, Creative AI for Everyone, and Generation AI: Introduction and Applications. These courses indicate that the interest of the people of Asia Pacific, including Indonesia, is increasingly leading to technology.

"Indonesian learning welcomes the future of work in 2024, prioritizing GenAI and skills that suit the work needs to remain competitive in the growing labor market," said Raghav Gupta, Managing Director of Asia Pacific Coursera.

Raghav estimates that this trend will continue until next year. To support people who want to learn more about AI, Coursera will provide support by providing more accessible GeneAI courses.

"We estimate that by 2025, global competition towards AI literacy will accelerate, and we remain committed to empowering Indonesian learners with accessible and transformative education to achieve success in an AI-driven world," said Raghav.
